The spherical casings created by Lemay in collaboration with Morelli Designers and the city of Montreal give Frédéric-Back Park the appearance of an imaginary world. They shelter methane gas wells punctuating this completely reinvented site: once a quarry, then a landfill, it is now a constantly evolving park that gives back to the citizens. Original and well integrated in the natural environment, the casings are primarily used to protect wells and allow access to technicians. But they have a playful component: their phosphorescent coating produces a ghostly glow at night, offering evening walkers a different landscape. A remark- able work of innovation that combines practicality and surprise, like Montreal today.
